Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander Racism

Racism takes many forms, some violent and tragic, some more subtle. It also impacts communities in different ways, but in any form, it is important to acknowledge racism exists, challenge the rising white supremacy around us, and support those who are the survivors.

We are saddened and angered by the recent murders in Atlanta, which included six women of Asian descent. There have been violent attacks against elderly Asian and Asian Americans in the Bay Area as well as other parts of the country.

It is an act which must be named for what it is: racism and misogyny. There has been an increase in hate crimes of all types, in all minority communities, but often Asian communities (and they are not all one by any means) are often unfairly excluded from acknowledgment and it is past time to change this. The stereotype of AAPI peoples being somehow immune to hate crimes is a myth.

Seacoast Outright is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and reaffirming our support for the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander communities.
