Seacoast Outright Seeks

Development & Communications Coordinator

 

Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000
Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to: Executive Director

Our Mission: To serve, support, and advocate for LGBTQ+ youth in the Seacoast Area of NH and beyond.

Job Summary: Seacoast Outright is seeking a Development and Communications Coordinator to help us advance our mission, and accompany the organization through an exciting period of growth. You will be leading our communications efforts (particularly in the digital space), connecting with donors, partners, and volunteers, revamping our database, strengthening our individual giving program, and assisting with annual events, like Portsmouth Pride. The right candidate will help us tell the story of Seacoast Outright, and strengthen key relationships.

 


Duties/Responsibilities:


Donor Management and Communications (50%):

 

  • Develops and delivers the Seacoast Outright message to existing and potential supporters; maintains and grows relationships with donors and supporters.

  • Works with ED on donor database management

  • Writes thank you, renewal and appeal letters, and works with applicable staff and board on printing and mailing.

  • Drafts and creates monthly newsletter, and applicable special communications when they arise.

  • Manages social media communications, and basic website updates.

  • Coordinated earned media, develops press contacts, and drafts press releases by request.

 

Fundraising/Event Planning (40%):

  • Works with ED and any applicable contractors on grant proposals.

  • Assists in organizing Portsmouth Pride, which may include initial approach to potential sponsors, or soliciting donations from local businesses.

  • Assists ED with applicable outreach to funders, corporate partners, and more.

  • Gift processes all received checks, and prepares deposit for the bank.

  • Manages volunteers where appropriate.

Executive Support and Community Outreach (10%):

​

  • Responds to general requests for information about Seacoast Outright 

  • Checks and manages general email box.

  • Picks up checks from post office weekly to bi-weekly.

  • Prepare printed materials for community outreach efforts upon request.

Desired skills/abilities:

 

  • An understanding of, and commitment to LGBTQ+ issues in New Hampshire, youth empowerment, and DEIJ-B are a must; 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent job experience

  • Relationship management skills (with knowledge of the Seacoast preferred)

  • Experience with donor management systems, such as Little Green Light

  • Experience with nonprofit organizations is helpful

  • Experience with event planning

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and in a team

  • Experience with website management, email tools, social media management, and basic graphics are very helpful.

  • General computer skills, including Google Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office (or equivalent).
