Thank you for your interest in sponsoring Portsmouth PRIDE 2019! We simply can’t make this event happen without your support, so we are incredibly grateful for your commitment to making our community a welcoming and inclusive place. In return, we promise to provide  visibility for your business to our social media audience of 21,000+ people and to the thousands of attendees at PRIDE!

Your sponsorship impact extends far beyond funding this annual community event, though. Your financial support for Portsmouth PRIDE sustains critical Seacoast Outright programs and services throughout the year, demonstrating your commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and in particular, our youth. The work we do – with your support – makes our community stronger and safer every day. For this reason, we are humbled and honored to partner with you.

Why Sponsor PRIDE?

LGBTQ+ audiences respond strongly to targeted advertising with a high-level of brand recognition and recall. In other demographics, this level of brand penetration can be difficult to achieve without a significantly higher investment.

Of LGBTQ+ adults in the United States polled on their consumer behavior:

  • roughly half are more likely to patronize a business that tailors its advertising to the LGBTQ+ community;

  • 7 out of 10 are inclined to consider brands that support non-profit organizations and causes important to them as LGBTQ+ individuals;

  • in a 12 month period, 23% switched their patronage to a competing company due to its support of the LGBTQ+ community;

  • 7 out of 10 would remain loyal to a company that they perceive to be LGBTQ+-friendly, even if a less friendly competitor offers a more affordable or convenient product or service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Portsmouth PRIDE?

Portsmouth PRIDE is an annual event hosted by Seacoast Outright, a non-profit organization that has been serving the Seacoast LGBTQ+ community and its allies for over 25 years.

Pride events take place across the world during the month of June to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. The first Pride march in the US took place on June 28, 1970, after an assembly in New York City's Greenwich Village, marchers walked 51 blocks from Christopher Street to Central Park. The march marked the first anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riots.

Seacoast Outright is proud to host Portsmouth PRIDE as an annual community-wide and family-focused event, made possible by our amazing sponsors!

When and where is Portsmouth PRIDE?

The 5th Annual Portsmouth PRIDE will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in downtown Portsmouth, NH.

I want to march! How do I make that happen?

All you have to do is show up at Market Square — we will be impossible to miss!

We strongly encourage everyone to wear one of six rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or purple), as our goal is to march in rainbow formation through downtown.

You can choose to march with any color you’d like. If you are affiliated with a specific group that will be marching, check with other group members to coordinate which color you will march with.

While not required, you can purchase an official 2019 Portsmouth PRIDE t-shirt in one of the six rainbow colors at the staging area before the march, or pre-order one to make sure you get the size and color you want (we often sell out of some popular sizes/colors, so we encourage pre-orders!). There are several ways to pick up your shirt — see next question.

How do I get my t-shirt once I’ve ordered it?

T-shirts will not be mailed - PICKUP IS REQUIRED. T-shirts will not be given or reserved until full payment is made. You may purchase a shirt (while supplies last), or claim your pre-ordered one, at any of the following days/times/locations:

- Market Square Day, June 8th at Seacoast Outright booth

- Kittery Block Party, June 15th at Seacoast Outright booth

- Friday, June 21st at 6pm at Portsmouth Public Library — Pride Eve T-Shirt Pickup Party!

- Saturday, June 22nd, the morning of PRIDE, at Market Square at 12:00pm

I won’t be marching, but I would like to watch and cheer for the marchers. Where is the best location for me to do so?

We appreciate your support! Wherever you decide to watch the march from, we ask that you please remain on the sidewalks along the march route. The best viewing and cheering locations along the route include:

  • Pleasant Street from State Street to Court Street

  • Court Street from Pleasant Street to Marcy Street

  • Marcy Street from Court Street to PRIDE entrance at Strawbery Banke

  • Strawbery Banke Marketplace

The march leaves Market Square at 12:45pm. We estimate that marchers will start arriving at Strawbery Banke at 1:00PM, which would be an excellent location for you to wait in anticipation of the march. Marchers will be welcomed into Strawbery Banke with cheers and music — and hugs

The PRIDE Marketplace will feature craft vendors, informational organizations, food, and music.
